
Learning is an interactive process between the teachers and the children. Our teachers and caregivers are true professionals and partners in the caring and teaching of the children in their charge. They prepare the environment and plan activities that are appropriate for the age span of the children within the group and consider the different needs, interests, and developmental levels of individual children.
In addition, Smarter Toddler provides extensive staff development opportunities, with goals determined by the teachers themselves. There is no hierarchical relationship among the teachers. Language development and communication are emphasized. Children have opportunities to play and work with other children, make choices and encounter consequences, and negotiate social conflicts using appropriate language.
This staffing plan, coupled with the policy of keeping the same group of children and teachers together over a long period of time, facilitates the sense of community that characterizes relationships among adults and children.
